Role Overview
Our company is seeking a seasoned Heat Exchanger Design Engineer to join us on a
part-time consulting basis. We are specifically looking for an expert with deep technical
roots in copper tube and aluminum fin coil architecture. This role is ideal for a retired
professional who wishes to stay engaged in the industry by solving complex thermal
heat transfer challenges and providing technical oversight without the commitment of a
full-time schedule.
Primary Responsibilities:
Review and analyze our customers’ technical specifications on their projects.
Attend online or in-person technical meetings with our customers on a as need basis.
Prepare & share RFQ’s (based on technical specifications & discussions) with the
manufacturing facility that we work with on our project.
Design & Optimization: Lead the thermal and mechanical design of HVAC coils,
specifically optimizing fin geometry and tube circuitry for efficiency and
performance.
Material Expertise: Advise on material selection, focusing on maximizing heat
transfer while mitigating corrosion (galvanic/formicary).
Performance Validation: Review and validate thermal performance calculations
using industry-standard software and AHRI 410 guidelines.
Co-ordination with Manufacturing partners : Our Company works with both
domestic & International HVAC Coil suppliers to fulfill our project needs. The
candidates experience in understanding manufacturing capabilities & factoring
this into final design of the heat exchangers would play a vital role in the success
of this position.
Technical Mentorship: (Optional) Provide high-level guidance to our junior
engineering team on best practices in coil manufacturing.
Qualifications
Deep Subject Matter Expertise: Extensive history in the design and
manufacture of air-to-refrigerant or air-to-water heat exchangers.
Technical Fluency: Mastery of heat transfer coefficients, pressure drop
calculations, and coil circuitry.
Industry Standards: Expert-level knowledge of AHRI Standard 410.
Software: Experience with CoilDesigner, OEM BAT. HTRI, or similar thermal
modeling platforms.
